Zumaya Embraces Imprint – The Christmas Village by Linda Andrews

The Christmas Village by Linda Andrews

Egypt got run over by a reindeer…

There’s no doubt about it—Cade Dugan has a magic matchmaking touch. Every time he’s made figurines of mates for local residents of Holly for his ceramic Christmas village they’ve arrived as depicted. His problem is the figure of the woman in the blue coat he made for himself, because women swoop down on Holly, determined to be The One, the minute they hear about it.

Egypt’s had great luck with men—all of it bad. Every time she introduces her guy to a friend, she ends up being a bridesmaid instead of the bride. She’s on her way for the fourteenth outing—her sister’s Christmas Eve wedding to Egypt’s last boyfriend—when her car conks out near a tiny village full of more Christmas cheer than she can stand…and a gorgeous hunk in a sleigh, drawn by a team of reindeer, who is clearly a complete nut job.

A complete nut job who makes her tingle all over, and who is fated to try to kill her three times before he can claim her forever.

Purchase in trade paperback, and in ebook for Kindle and NOOK .

Zumaya Publications Birthday Bash Virtual Tour

Happy Birthday Zumaya Publications

Join Elizabeth Burton and the authors of Zumaya Publications as they tour the blogosphere to celebrate their  fifth year anniversary with a month long birthday bash!  Zumaya Publications is a small press publishing house based in Austin, Texas, and has been the home of many wonderful and talented authors under the direction of the multi-talented editor, Elizabeth Burton.  Together they are celebrating five years of irresponsible reading with giveaways, chats and more at Pump Up Your Book!

About Zumaya Publications

Zumaya PublicationsWE SUPPORT IRRESPONSIBLE READING

Zumaya Publications was founded in British Columbia in 1999 by author Diana Kemp-Jones and artist/author Martine Jardin. Their goal was to develop a publishing company that combined the best of the old, traditional methods with the best of the new. For them, this meant developing an internet-based house that utilized print-on-demand technology.

In 2006, Zumaya moved to Austin TX as Zumaya Publications LLC, under the direction of Executive Editor Elizabeth Burton. Over the next three years, Zumaya branched into seven imprints—Arcane, Boundless, Embraces, Enigma, Otherworlds, Thresholds and Yesterdays. In 2009, Marianne and Joyanne Moul replaced Jardin as partners in the company. Plans to implement a graphic novel imprint, Zumaya Fabled Ink, are currently underway as well as a line of artist-designed illustrated classics.

To date, Zumaya has published more than 200 titles in all areas of fiction as well as some superb nonfiction, many of which have won awards. Gideon by Chester Aaron was selected the silver medal winner in the YA-Cultural/Historical category of the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards, The Everdark Gate by Elizabeth Burton received the Dream Realm Award in Fantasy for speculative fiction in ebook format, and Busting Loose: Cancer Survivors Tell You What Your Doctor Won’t by Cheryl Swanson received the silver medal in the Living Now Book Awards.

Zumaya Publications is committed to two things: allowing undiscovered talent the opportunity to be heard and moving publishing into the 21st century by actively using and promoting new technologies and business models that have significantly less environmental impact than the traditional one. To accomplish the latter means developing new strategies for marketing and distribution, which are already being studied and implemented. The cost-effectiveness of inventory-free production, eliminating both the need for stocking large numbers of books and the subsequent need to dispose of unsold copies, allows the company to take risks with both new authors and content more often than is feasible for those using traditional methods.

Publishing 20-25 titles annually, Zumaya is one of a new breed of book publisher utilizing up-to-date technology in new ways.

Round Robin Episode 7

Help? Jackie needed a high profile lawyer and a giant shoe horn to get out of this. Or… She caught sight of Jack climbing the fire escape. Or one PI who could cough up some answers, like how he knew Matt and what he knew about her mother’s secret account. “Thank you ladies for your help, but I think you need to turn that quilt square over to the cops. Evidence, you know.”

“This isn’t our first murder, dear.” The two women looked at each other before easing toward the bar’s open back door. “Are you going to join us?”

Not in this lifetime. Inside, Jackie heard the police barging into the scene upsetting the already traumatized patrons. Red and blue strobelights sliced through the dark alley, tainting their faces in garish hues.

The woman on the left raised an eyebrow.

Jackie resisted the urge to cringe while slipping on her heels. Why is it that women of a certain age always managed to make her feel guilty with that look? “I just need to collect myself.”

Ignoring the body of her ex, Jackie tiptoed around the blood oozing along the debris strewn asphalt. She felt more than saw the two women head inside. Smiling, she ran to the lowered fire escape and set her hands on the cold metal rungs. When she caught up with Jack, she’d….

Round Robin Episode 3

Jackie registered the broad shoulders under a black mackintosh before noticing the smoking barrel swinging Jack’s way. “Get down!”

Jack’s attention swiveled her way, but unlike most men she’d known he actually listened. Hitting the floor before the dead bimbo, he upended his table and ducked behind it.

Glasses shattered, sending a trail of glittering shards across the stained concrete floor. The businessmen at the oak bar shrieked like school girls before melting off their stools to cower near the brass footrest.

Taking her own advice, Jackie pressed inside the curved side of the bar. Her tight jeans cut across her belly as she kicked off her stilettos. Well this certainly hadn’t gone the way she’d planned. Palming the heels, she wielded the makeshift weapon. Three inches of Chinese plastic against bullets, not if she wanted to get out of this alive. Time for plan B.

“Stand up and face me like a man, you son of a bitch!” Another pop and the lampshade over the pool table exploded.

Jackie’s tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth. Could she make it down the hallway to the bathrooms?

Two more shots echoed around the bar.

Wood chips from Jack’s table sprayed the floor. “Jenner, is that you?”

Jackie mentally cringed. Maybe it had been a blessing that the PI hadn’t returned her call. The man sounded too damn relaxed for someone being shot at. Inhaling a calming breath, she looked for an exit. Matt would have to understand. Becoming collateral damage wouldn’t help fund the animal shelter and she didn’t have that much life insurance.

Jackie peered around the edge of the bar and her heart stopped beating. There, just beyond Jack’s table…
